                         Tamarisk


                         Tamarix chinensis


                         Graceful, feathery foliage and dangling, plumelike pink flowers
                         in spring and summer make the tamarisk a lovely shrub. It can
                         grow in a weeping style, but needs a certain amount of
                         encouragement because it naturally wants to grow upward.
                                               Although they look dainty, tamarisks
                                                 are coastal plants and resist salt
                                                   and wind; in fact, they positively
